Pyrosequencing: Detection of unknown sequence variants
Pyrosequencing provides a reliable and robust platform for detection of unknown sequence variants, and provides flexibility of primer placement in sequencing reaction, therefore any genetic markers can be assayed. Alleles of variable loci can be accurately quantified, and heterozygosity to be resolved.
Since pyrosequencing technology provides sequence information, many different types of genetic variation can be evaluated: SNPs, single tandem repeats, deletions, insertions, and variable gene copy number. Also, it is possible to assay several contiguous sequence variants in a single run.
